Treadmill Test (TMT)

The Treadmill Test (TMT), also known as a Stress Test or Exercise ECG, is a key diagnostic tool used to evaluate how well your heart functions under physical stress. At Sri Raju Heart & Skin Hospital, we offer this test as part of our comprehensive cardiac assessment to identify potential heart problems that may not be visible during rest.

During a TMT, the patient walks on a treadmill while connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine that monitors heart rate, rhythm, and electrical activity. The treadmill’s speed and incline are gradually increased to raise the heart rate, simulating the effects of physical exertion. This helps determine how the heart responds to stress and whether there is adequate blood flow to the heart muscle.

A TMT is especially useful for diagnosing coronary artery disease (CAD), assessing the effectiveness of previous treatments like angioplasty or bypass surgery, and identifying abnormal heart rhythms triggered by exercise. It is also commonly recommended for patients with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations.

Our expert team ensures the procedure is carried out safely in a controlled environment, with continuous supervision by trained healthcare professionals. The results of the TMT are analysed immediately to decide the next steps in the patient's treatment plan.

By offering accurate and timely stress testing, Sri Raju Heart & Skin Hospital continues its mission of bringing high-quality, preventive cardiac care to rural and semi-urban populations, allowing early intervention and better outcomes.
